Midleton's Redbreast single pot still Irish whiskeys have been a favourite of many here at MoM Towers, so it's with great excitement that we present to you a single cask Redbreast 16 Year Old selected and bottled exclusively for Master of Malt. It was matured in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry butt which was laid down in March 2001 and left to age for 16 years, before being bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration. It's really, really good. A release of 582 bottles.
A bundle of dried dark fruits, sultanas, figs and blackberries packed into an old-school pipe tobacco box. Dark chocolate, black cherries, and toasted wood. With water a rich ginger and cinnamon spice comes through.
All about the caramel and fudge, with hazelnut, cashew and walnut notes and dried fruits in abundance. Water brings out the chocolate, bread-and-butter pudding quality and a real rich creaminess.
Long and decadent, with oak spiciness and blackberry, apricot and cherry notes lingering on.
Luxurious Christmas pudding and brandy butter in liquid form. A stormer of a single cask, single pot still whiskey.
Sadly this is sold out. Really a unique spirit. I was lucky enough to get a second bottle. Tannic sherry, reminiscent of a Yamazaki sherry cask, but with the floral tones out of the pot stills. I'm gifting a sample to a friend today.
Beautiful whiskey. The sherry and the pot still go so well together. My favourite style of Irish whiskey.
Had the rare chance to buy an expensive bottle! Always with a drop of water. The only way i can describe the earthy, sweetness is similar to prune cured tobacco... different than the 12cask strength in that the sherry infused spanish oak has the almost decrepit note of old wood. Awesome pungency, mouth waters as if after a chili due to high proof. Heavier oils of the single pot still settle to a buttery, savory mouth feel. There is an immaculate effervescence and dried fruit burn that lasts as well. Knew i was making a good choice with Redbreast Whiskey, and more than gratious for Master of Malt's investment in this release. much appreciated!! -allen from tejas
Got a bottle as a gift and was delighted with it. Lovely on the nose and real depth in the finish. Considering buying another!!
No better than 12CS, not buttery no complexity just sherry even after waiting for half an hour.. hope this bottle will improve after sometime..Or maybe I got a bad bottle??
