Isle of Raasay adds to its Na Sia Single Cask Series with this peated single malt whisky aged for five years in freshly charred and toasted, custom-made Chinkapin (Quercus Muehlenbergii) American white oak casks. Native to Central and Eastern North America, when this oak is freshly charred it brings a significant amount of colour and flavour to the whisky early in the maturation process, with the high toast caramelising the natural sugars in the wood. Expect notes of butterscotch and dark fruit. The whisky was bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Scottish tablet, heather honey, nutmeg, red grapes, oak, and banoffee pie.
Butterscotch, red currants, malted granary bread, clove, and Victoria sponge with jam.
Sweet ginger, dark fruits, and lingering wood smoke.
