The Character of Islay Whisky Company
Our Competitions offer you the chance to win some of the world’s rarest and most exclusive whiskies!
The Character of Islay Whisky Company's Wind & Wave independent bottling series is all about showing off the glorious whiskies from the eponymous island, and this one is particularly glorious indeed. It's a single malt from the legendary Port Ellen Distillery! It was distilled back in 1983 (the same year that it closed), and has been matured for 35 years before being bottled up at 47.9% ABV. A rare, exciting opportunity to taste the whisky from Port Ellen, a distillery that has been missed for many moons (though it will soon be opening its doors once again!).
Alternatively, head to the Port Ellen Distillery page if you want to check out other bottles from this famous distillery!
Smoky charcoal and toasted barley, with candied lemon peel and a touch of vanilla tablet in support.
A fine balance of peaty salinity and tropical fruit freshness, punctuated by oak, soot and spice.
Subtly chocolatey on the finish, with the final smoky spices continuing on and on.
