This bottle might be missing a box or have a torn label, but the liquid inside is all good.
Ninth in the Penderyn Icons of Wales series, this one is named 'The Headliner' after David Llyod George (1863-1945), the only Welsh Prime Minister and creator of the Immature Spirits Act 1915, which specified whisky must be matured for a minimum of three years. This likely annoyed a lot of distilleries at the time, but is said to have helped shape the image of whisky as a premium product. This particular whisky was matured in Jamaican rum and Port casks, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, for plenty of rich berry and spice notes.
Bursts of fresh cherry and summer berries, with creamy oatcakes, oaken vanilla, and baking spices.
Fruitcake, with drizzles of caramel alongside, drying green oak, and peppery spice.
Dry, with plenty of sweet fruit.
