Penderyn Legend is a Welsh single malt whisky firstly matured in bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Madeira casks before it's bottled, imparting an intriguing touch of vibrant sweetness. It has been bottled at 41% ABV, slightly lower than the Welsh distillers' other Madeira-cask-finished single malt.
First try of this brand, others in the line up may be better with more depth of flavour, as said below rather harsh and bland for me even with a drop of water. I’ll have this bottle for a while I think
I like this neat - very much a summer drink for me - it has it's own style (i.e. a Welsh whisky) and does not pretend to be something that it is not. As with all things Welsh, it sits very well in the company of other nationalities, whether they be Scottish, Irish, Spanish, American. Italian, German, Indian or whatever - I enjoy having different company & just sticking to 1 whisky, 1 conversation, 1 group of friends etc would be a very boring life indeed! Penderyn Legend is good company - very smooth, sweet and inoffensive, but can pleasantly surprise you on occasion - it is not going to bore you senseless with technicalities nor is it going to tell you long rambling yarns - it is going to leave you with a feeling that it is something a bit different that you haven't quite understood, but don't really need to know in order to enjoy it. That's the way I like it & if you don't like it, please feel free to send me any bottles that you might have lying around. Hwyl dda - lloniannau.
This must be the easiest drinking whisky I've ever tasted. I would say its more of a summer whisky, light an fruity. An everyday whiskey, easy drinking.
The Whisky is fine, but I bought a bottle for a Welsh friend who lives in Essex. I was disappointed to see nothing in the Welsh language on the bottle. I am sure that something in Welsh would add to the intrinsic value of your Welsh whisky
I like my whisky on the light side and found this very palatable if unchallenging. I’m buying it again.
