    Peat's Beast

A beast of a whisky indeed, although it's not without its beauty. Un-chill filtered and bottled at 46% abv, this is very peaty, as you might expect, though not in the realms of the really big hitters like Ardbeg's Supernova. But if you like bonfires on beaches and tarmac on kittens, this is a good one to try.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Crashing waves, wood smoke, ash and tar. A hint of apple and citrus but the peat, unsurprisingly, dominates.

    Palate

A beach barbecue... salt and kippers, a bit of butter and hot pepper spice. Water brings out some of those lighter apple and banana notes but again the phenols are the main event here.

    Finish

This lasts for ages with ash, dark chocolate and pepper riding out over an oily base.

    Overall

A dram that lives up to its name; the beast needs taming with a drop of water but it never gets too compliant.

    Peat bomb

As an Islay whisky maniac this was on my list to try simply because of the peat. Here's my thoughts Usually when you open a bottle of high peat it hits your nose immediately. This took a while but then it got strong. The notes of MOM are spot on. This comes to me like young and raw Ardbeg. A very nice peat whisky with a good price. Nothing exceptional but a solid whisky. If you like this then you want to taste Bunnahabhain Moine.

    Best budget peat malt yet?

Smoked salami on the nose, with faint minerals and fruit in the background. Palate is ash, tar, caramel sweetness (real caramel, not color), oiliness and a bit of bubblegum. Long finish.

    Thank you, Beast!

It is one of the first peated whiskey I tried and I was absolutely flattered by its taste. After a couple of years I bought it again, but I realized that you can buy better peated whisky for same reasonable price. But still worth trying, thank you, Beast!

    A smooth, peated whisky

I have to say that I find this to be an excellent whisky, a lovely oily mouth feel, lovely finish. Very easy to drink without water if you like the Islay style, even if it actually isn't from there.
