Superb single malt from a secret Speyside distillery. As you might have guessed from the name, Olorosum is a splendidly sherried affair. The 10-year-old single malt was treated to an extremely generous finish in oloroso sherry casks before being bottled up without added colour or chill filtration at a hearty 54.7% ABV. With a smartly waxed top (how did they make it slanted like that?!) and a black and gold label that gives off some rather suave Art Deco vibes, it looks as stunning as it tastes.
Superbly sherried, with burnt sugar, golden syrup, and milk chocolate. Candied pecans and festive chocolate liqueurs follow while drying old oak nestles in the depths.
Big and bold with vanilla fudge and boozy dried fruits opening the way for sweet, nutty malt. Chocolate raisins and Brazil nuts follow, with notes of wood polish and brandy snaps.
A dense finish, with drying oak and aged fruit cake, toasted spices, and minced pies.

I’m not great picking out flavours from tasting notes but the depth of flavour in this is immense. Love it.
When this went on offer at £40 I bought a bottle, it was one on my list I had been keen to try. Tasting notes for me are; Nose: Burnt Sugar, Golden Syrup & Mince Pies. Palate: Boozy fudge, Brazil Nuts & Brandy Snaps. Finish is a bit weak but, Drying Oak, Dates & Toasted Spices. Overall a good Whisky, but doesn't quite have the fullness of character I'd expect for £60 in my view.
This is by far the best Speyside I have tasted and probably one of the finest of the none Islay malts anywhere in the world, well that is in my opinion anyway.
I’ve got to be honest I was blown away when I first tried this bottle at the £40 price tag. I instantly bought another 2 bottles. £40 was a perfect price for this bottle. Bang another £20 on and I’m not interested. Over priced at £60 for an unknown 10 year old. Whisky prices gone mad.
Ok neat, but it needs a splash of water and some time in the glass to really open up. It improves it greatly, and brings out lots of deliciously sweet berry fruit notes. It's worth a punt for £60, and a no brainer if it ever goes on sale again.
