You'd think the most impressive thing about the classic Old Forester brand's most recent release, Old Forester Statesman, was that it won the Master Award (the highest accolade) at the Spirits Business American Whiskey Masters 2017. You'd be wrong.
Created as a tie-in with, 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle', Old Forester Statesman defies all expectations of what has come to be presumed from movie tie-ins, presenting a balanced, distinguished, and delicious bourbon. Old Forester may have to consider measures to keep it on the market longer, and that's the truly impressive thing about Old Forester Statesman. Bond is welcome to his shaken martinis.
Brooding dark chocolate carries light vanilla essence through strong campfire and oak spice.
Musty leather breaks with notes of orange citrus. Sweet cinnamon, smooth caramel and pinching baking spices round a really lovely palate.
Long, rich and beautifully spicy. Really impressive bourbon.

Really like it. More than I thought I would. Drinking neat with RP San Andreas on a cool Chicago night.
I love me a good movie tie-in, plus I'm a huge Bourbon fan so I thought I'd give this a try. Firstly, what a surprise! It went down far to easily - for a something that's 42.5% without an age statement - it was a fantastic smooth sipping whiskey. I drink it neat and slowly. For my palate, the nose had notes of burnt toffee and almonds, tastes of warm but not overpowering spice with a caramel praline finish that lingers. I hope this sticks around long after we've forgotten about the movie....
Really surprised by this bourbon. Not a fan of the standard OF offering and as this was a tie in for a film I didn't expect much from it. However, I was very wrong to underestimate this dram. Great smells and flavours, sticks around on the finish and makes you want to go back for more. Hope this bottle becomes part of their regular offering.
