Chaos - Batch 001 (North Star Spirits)

North Star Chaos #001 Bottling Note

An Islay single malt from North Star Spirits, dubbed Chaos after the star of the same name, though it tastes like anything but! It blends together two Caol Ila malts, with a pair of 2010 vintage Pedro Ximénez casks married with a single 2009 vintage hogshead. The trio of casks were bottled at 50% ABV, with a release of 1,200 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Candied ginger, earthy peat and orange oil, with hints of toasty oak.

Palate: A smidge of tart fruit and a good dose of peat smoke, with citrus peels and praline.

Finish: Orange marmalade and charred oak.

Reviews for Chaos - Batch 001 (North Star Spirits)
What a bargain, best Islay single malt for under £40?
Wow, thought i had my Lagavulin distillers edition in my glass for a minute. This is a real inky, charcoal smoked cured meat, pencil shavings of a Caol Ila. The PX cask really dominates here with sooty/ashy dried fruit galore with a blue cheese like sharpness. A stunning release from those North Star peeps who seem to be one of the most reliable of the indie bottlers around at the moment.
