Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose A cereal-rich, surprisingly malty nose (!), with hints of gingerbread, cinnamon, vanilla custard and barrel char.

Palate Notes of sweet café lattes, soft spices, acacia honey and custard on the palate.

Finish Easy-going, sweet finish with Demerara sugar on the tail.

I bought a bottle of this more out of interest than anything as I have never had a straight grain whisky before and I didn’t have particularly high expectations but what a find! This has to be one of the best value whiskies going. It’s quite straightforward, not much complexity but has a wonderful character, it’s sweet but not overly so, the best flavour comparison I can give is its remarkably similar to vanilla ice cream, really good (Cornish perhaps) vanilla ice cream and it’s probably more akin to a good bourbon than anything. Very impressed.
