A 14 year old single grain whisky, distilled in 1997 at the North British distillery and bottled by Signatory. Creamy and sweet…
A cereal-rich, surprisingly malty nose (!), with hints of gingerbread, cinnamon, vanilla custard and barrel char.
Notes of sweet café lattes, soft spices, acacia honey and custard on the palate.
Easy-going, sweet finish with Demerara sugar on the tail.

I bought a bottle of this more out of interest than anything as I have never had a straight grain whisky before and I didn’t have particularly high expectations but what a find! This has to be one of the best value whiskies going. It’s quite straightforward, not much complexity but has a wonderful character, it’s sweet but not overly so, the best flavour comparison I can give is its remarkably similar to vanilla ice cream, really good (Cornish perhaps) vanilla ice cream and it’s probably more akin to a good bourbon than anything. Very impressed.
