The award-winning Nikka Whisky From The Barrel blend is absolutely full of flavour. Bottled at 51.4% ABV. The blend combines both single malt and grain whisky, the majority of which comes from from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries. A huge depth of flavour in this stunning whisky from Japan. We can't recommend this enough.
Medium-body with good balance. There are notes of cut flowers and fresh fruits, spice, and a little oak.
Full-bodied and punchy. There is plenty of winter spice and toffee, a little caramel and vanilla, and a good mouthful of fruit.
Long, warming and fruity with a little oaken spice.

Smoke and mirrors, this one. Minus the mirrors. And I mean it tastes so smokey that any other flavors supposed to be there were not apparent, not even conceivable. What the heck happened here? Go to the hardware store instead - they'll likely give you a small block of scrap wood to suck on for free.
A pleasant whisky at a decent price. I don't agree with "huge depth of flavour" nor it being "stunning" but it is a very nice, very easy to drink and incredibly smooth, creamy whisky without being overly sweet. Smoothness hides the alcoholic content very well! Could taste caramel and maybe a hint of orange in there? Empty bottle smelt heavily of vanilla but I couldn't taste in the glass. Like a very smooth Glennfidich but dial down the taste and complexity? I tried a sampler and I'll happily add this to my list for future full sized bottles. It's a good one to offer guests who aren't sure of what they like and also enjoy yourself. I can imagine a couple would be quite boring but as an opener no one will be offended if you offer this as a first drink. It's a good whisky and very easy to enjoy - just dial down the hyperbole and accept it for what it is - a compentent blend that's a very easy going drink.
I heard nothing but good reviews about this stuff wherever I looked so eventually took the plunge and bought a bottle... big mistake. I can only think that as another reviewer has hit on, the distillery have found themselves forcing this stuff out for either profit and/or demand and have therefore massively reduced the quality. Similar to what happened with Elijah Craig when they binned off their 12 yo which was amazing and replaced it with bin juice. This is the sort of whisky you'd expect to find for £7.99 a litre in your local knock off store. Cos it's rubbish. Stay well clear and go spend your £30 odd on something that's worth it.
Wow! My first taste. Excellent - smooth yet full-bodied. Bottle needs redesign tho: impossible to pour cleanly from it.
