Master of Malt
This three-year-old American rye whiskey hails from the New York Distilling Company, and now it joins our exclusive Master of Malt Single Cask collection. Matured in a single new American oak barrel, it's packed with character, from classic rye spice and buttered pumpernickel to silky layers of creamy caramel – delicious for sipping, and it'll make a mean Manhattan. Toasted cereal and rye spice open things up, followed by browned butter and green peppercorns. Softly sweet notes of summer fruits nestle in the depths, with vanilla, oak, and soft sponge cake.
Silky soft caramel coats the palate before a hearty helping of peppery warmth, root ginger, and nutmeg. Creamy vanilla and caramel condensed milk bring balance, with buttered pumpernickel, drizzled with honey.
Stone fruits join for the finish with sweet peach and soft apricot joining the powerful spice and oak char that linger.
I love this Rye. Great over ice or in a Manhattan.
Works well as an alternative to Rittenhouse in cocktails. Grabbed a bottle as an experiment and proofed some of it down to match Rittenhouse, then used it in Manhattans. Very impressed - an absolute steal at this price
Really good flavour and easy drinking. I've not been big on Rye before, but this has impressed me. Good Value at the price, too. May well be a good cocktail base.
