Kentucky's New Riff distillery was founded in 2014, and since then, has been carefully setting back spirit for long-term ageing. Here, we get a taste of that generously aged whiskey, in the form of an eight-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, which joins the distillery's core collection! Distilled from a high rye mash bill, bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof), without chill filtration, it's layered with hearty helpings of rye spice, backed by rich oak, while retaining a freshness that the New Riff folks point out is a promising sign of how well its whiskey ought to age beyond the eight year mark. Something to enjoy now, and more to look forward to in the future!
