    Powers Gold Label

Powers Gold Label is a classic Irish whiskey, introduced in 1791 by John Power & Son. Once a single pot still whiskey, it's long since been a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys. Powers have reintroduced single pot still Irish whiskey to their range, however, with their John's Lane Release.

    The spicy alternative ...

... to perhaps the better known Jameson's. Not as sweet and malty, but a livelier, spice based experience in Irish blended whiskey. A favourite through the generations in our family for over100 years.

    Reliable, classy and easy drinking.

A whiskey I always have in my collection, (along with its stablemates). An ok price point in the UK through MoM, (but obviously cheaper in Ireland). Lovely shortbread, caramel with no harshness. My personal taste is with a little water to open it up a bit. A beautiful drink.

    The best value whiskey going

OK, is this my favourite ever whiskey of the thousands ive tried? No. Is it the one I purchase more than any other? Absolutely. Immediately has what I crave in all the best whiskeys, that sweet butterscotch and caramel hits. And then comes that lingering warmth. To the untrained palette this warmth may come across as sharp but its not Maybe it's where I live in Ireland but this stuff is dirt cheap and half the price of whiskeys twice its price. Keep a bottle of this in your cupboard. I love it

    Not the Powers that be.

Not the Powers of historic memories, notes of strong alcohol and little else nearly burning my nostrils. On tasting quite smooth initially but lingering burning aftertaste. Normally a single malt guy but due to cost of living etc thought I'd give it a bash. Definitely not be revisiting unless the master distiller gets a word in his ear.

    In the running

for the best Irish Whiskey I've ever tried/had. Wonderful spice throughout, lingering in the finish well beyond the sweet honey & grainy cereal notes. Balanced & exceptionally tasty. Not offered here often enough so whenever I do see a bottle, I'll be sure to pick one up! Worth having as a regular staple on my Irish Whiskey shelf.
