This American whiskey from Michter's Distiller in Louisville, Kentucky, is matured in barrels which had previously held bourbon. As such, this expression cannot be called bourbon, as bourbon needs to be matured in new American oak barrels - hence why it's called whiskey instead. Slightly confusing legal nomenclature aside, it's bloomin' marvellous!
Polished oak, buttery corn and a kick of caraway spiciness.
Wonderfully creamy on the palate, boasting notes of butterscotch, golden syrup and sultanas.
Corn appears again, with peach and apple alongside it.
Initial aromas are Werther's original butterscotch, tasting starts out with ginger snaps and Christmas spices that give way to creamy Werther's original butterscotch again through the finish. Simply delicious! Great value for this kind of quality whisky.
The best by far! It was the priciest $10 top shelf shot that I have ever spent but I was glad I did! I could only have one drink and wanted something to sip on while schmoozing at an evening work banquet. I love whiskey bars and frequently sample a wide range looking for a smooth whiskey to drink over a few ice cubes without the burn. This was exactly what I have been looking for! I called the bar tender and made sure I got labels straight on what I was drinking so, I'm getting my own bottle!
Made my way through a lot of bourbon, sour mashes and the likes. This is by far the best I have had. It's sweet and so so smooth. Hardly no burn or spice. It's really great.
Discovered this really good whiskey on a recent trip to the states, its smooth and has a really long taste. Compares to 12-15 yo Speyside sherry cask single malts - well worth a try!
