It's the 2021 edition of Shenk's Homestead American whiskey, produced by Michter's in homage to John Shenk, who founded a distillery all the way back in 1753, which would eventually become... The Michter's Distillery! So, for the 2021 release, the team continue to use a portion of Chinquapin oak casks (as it has done for the 2020 and 2019 edition, proving popular indeed), which have been charred at various levels to achieve a marvellous flavour profile. The whiskey itself is a sour mash whiskey, with a good helping of rye up in the mix.
Roasted almonds, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla pod earthiness, orange zest.
Runny caramel dotted with spicy hints of cedar and black pepper, plus a festive touch of clove and more citrus.
Warming spices go on and on.
