Single Malt

We bagged a brilliant Speyside single malt here, distilled in 2009 and matured for nine years in a refill hogshead. When it comes to the distillery, well, that's a secret. Confidential, like a recipe for cola or fried chicken, but you know it's the real fingerlickin' thing. 670 bottles join our own collection of in-house releases.

Cinder toffee, brioche, yeasty, with sweet, soft barley, creamy rice pudding, butterscotch, milk bottle sweeties, and a bakery load of buttered pastries.
White chocolate buttons land first, followed by a bold backing of peppery malt. Complex layers of roasted chestnut, chewy toffee, and butter biscuits assemble beside robust oak and sherry-soaked sultanas.
A final flash of pepper arrives on the end, leaving a warm finish, cushioned by hearty layers of drying oak, biscuity barley, and burnt caramel.

Excellent value and very detailed flavour it does need a little drop of water to open it up and to bring the strength down a notch. Basically end up with a litre of Whisky for the price of a bottle
At 66% it is a bit fierce neat. A spot of water and it becomes a lovely spicy sipping dram. However, if you like a longer drink, it stands up well to quite a lot of water yet still gives lots of flavour. I expect I'll be back for more.
So smooth with ice or cool water how can you not like the price! Pay double for same. Machelinish? Best for me on summer nights chilling on the deck. 6 , 3 to go, oh lord must order soon. lol
I also think this is gorgeous. I love this peppery kick with ice cubes, sitting in my garden looking at the evening sky. Also: good neat. Cheers ??
First bottle of whisky from MoM (or anywhere else for that matter) I really haven't liked at all. The other MoM bottlings have been excellent but this one just isn't right. There's an overpowering flavour that doesn't match any of the tasting notes and drowns out any other flavours. If I could return it, I would but as it's now open I guess that's not feasible. The only thing left to try is adding some water to bring the abv down and see if it releases any of the flavours alleged to be present. Sorry MoM - this bottle is a dud.
