Single Malt
Scotland
1 May 1991
1 Mar 2011

The Speyside distillery of Mannochmore was mothballed in 1985 and this bottle was distilled just after the distillery reopened in 1991 and was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2011.
Clover honey and sweet malt form an enticing aroma followed by gentle notes of hay.
The palate is ever so slightly smoky with hints of green apples and conference pears.
The finish is long with notes of apple tart and spice.
This is a rich yet delicate single malt which displays the distillery's character excellently.

If you wanted to show what it is that makes a whisky quintessentially a Speysider you'd have trouble finding a better demonstrator. As with all CC it is unchill-filtered and contains no artificial colour. The cloud is pale straw. The nose is light and fruity. The palate is rich and malty with notes of dried fruits, pepper and the merest hint of smoke. The mouth feel is super smooth, rich and creamy. The finish is long with waves of citrus, a hint of chocolate, more dried raisins and sultanas and vanilla. Overall a fantastic dram and good value if you can get it. A real Elgin malt.
