The first line extension to the Maker's Mark range since the '50s, Maker's 46 is essentially the standard wheated expression with added spice. This bourbon wasn't intended to compete with the core expression, instead it's a cousin to it, something different for those that enjoy the extra dimension provided by inserting seared French oak staves into the barrels (stave profile number 46 - thus the name). It's utterly stunning.
Toffee sweetness and the saw dust from freshly cut wood. Has a very toasty aroma, with sweet spices and deep, thick caramel.
Creamy and very soft. Then it opens up, in fact it explodes with spiciness which concentrates on the tip of the tongue. It’s on nutmeg, mulled wine spices, allspice, cinnamon. Also a hint of hot apple juice.
A natural progression of the palate with the sweet spices and it concentrates on the tongue – this may be one of the few times you’ll notice a concentration of sweetness like this from a bourbon. It also becomes grassy after a minute or so.

The Best Whisky I have ever tasted, well it is Makers family.
Very tasty
This has to be one of the best bourbons at this price mark. Definitely in my top 5. If you think Maker's is pretty good already this will blow your socks off. Its worth the extra spend if you would love your regular Maker's with spades more spice, punch and complexity. It's going to be hard going back though!
Smooth warm and lovely with a creamy vanilla undertone
Drank this side by side with Blanton's other night. Both were very sweet, but the Blanton's was far more complex. 46 is a good whisky, the Blanton's is great.
