Maker's Mark is a world-famous bourbon whisky produced in Loretto, Kentucky. The brand is known for its red wax seal, which is said to be applied by hand to each bottle.
A brilliant whisky (note: Maker's Mark is one of just a few distilleries in the US to spell whisky sans the "e"!) it is made to a mashbill first developed by Bill Samuels Sr, which uses red winter wheat instead of rye. The result, therefore, can be described as a "wheated bourbon", and it's all the more smooth and creamy because of it!
Fruity and rich. There are lovely notes of spiced honey and mixed peels, a little malmsey, hazelnut and a touch of cut fruit with toasty oak providing a backbone.
Rich and full. There are notes of rye and spice, barley malt, a little nut oil with butterscotch and vanilla.
Quite sweet with butterscotch and dry oak spice.

Great wheated bourbon. A main stay in any bourbon drinkers bar in the states. Great for mixing or drinking straight. Awesome nose and viscosity for the price. Severely underpriced for the quality.
I have a collection of around 15 whiskies/bourbons/scotches at this point. Makers is the worst of the worst for me. I'd heartily recommend Jack or Jim Beam over this stuff. If you're willing to spend a bit more... Booker's bourbon or High West Rendezvous Rye are fantastic choices
I visited Kentucky 30 years ago, before I developed a taste for spirits, and Maker's was the clear choice of my peers who were born and raised in Bourbon County. I've since tried many bourbons, frequently side by side. Maker's is easily the best choice for people that appreciate the flavor of bourbon. It's the only brand of bourbon that I'll buy.
I have been trying to stray away from "JW Double Black Label". I thought, I have drunken so many bottles in a row, I should try to find a replacement of the bourbon kind, US made. After a few swigs, I was able to some what enjoy it. The only fault with me is that strong smell of chemicals hovering at the top of the glass. Luckily, I bought a small bottle and will try to finish it. I'm going back to Double Black Label for another bottle, then I'll stray again. I say pass if you like Scotch. In a pinch I went to a small liquor store that had M.M., Jim Beam, and Wild Turkey. This is definitely better than those 2, but like I said, I'll keep moving.
I've tried a few bourbons here and there, but Maker's Mark is not to be trifled with, it's a well-rounded full flavored bourbon with oaky notes, not your average bourbon, nice head...nuff said
