Lochlea Single Cask Ex-Bourbon Barrel (Master of Malt Exclusive)

An extra special single malt from the young Lowlands-based Lochlea distillery – bottled up exclusively for Master of Malt! The distillery was commissioned in 2018 and this whisky was distilled in its first year of operation, and filled into a first-fill bourbon barrel in March 2019. A total of 242 bottles were drawn from the cask in 2023, without added colour or chill filtration, and at a robust cask strength of 60.2% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose

Enticing toffee on the nose initially, giving way to orchard fruits.

Palate

Notes of red apple skins and pear drops follow on the palate, alongside freshly cut grass.

Finish

Signature Lochlea malt and cereal notes, like walking past a bakery in the morning.
