Loch Lomond
Scotland
Single Malt
Exciting news for those who love all things Scotch in every sense of the word, as whisky and golf combine here. Loch Lomond Whiskies has celebrated the beginning of a five-year partnership with The Open in the best way possible: by releasing three new highly covetable limited edition single malts!
The first in the collection is the Loch Lomond The Open Special Edition, which was created to celebrate golf’s original championship and, as such, is presented in a distinctive golf themed gift box. Master blender Michael Henry crafted this single malt to display four different spirit styles.
Ripe orchard fruits and a hint of dried mango are drenched in sumptuous maple syrup and sprinkles of brown sugar. A little spice provides some kick in the backdrop.
Creamy vanilla oak and delicate florals provide pleasant company for plenty of apricot, pear and crisp green apple.
Subtle peat smoke lingers.
Nose: sweet raspberries, ripe melon, pear, peach, minerals, slight hints of peat Taste: apples, green tea, lime, dandelion, hints of medicine, not harsh at all. Finish: oak, tea, green apples, creamy, warmth, hay, hints of gauze. I don't get any smoke or peat on the finish. I am impressed. Considering the price and that it is a NOS, I didn't have high expectations, but it is certainly very enjoyable. Non-chill filtered, 46% abv, good job Loch Lomond! definitely recommended!
Sublety may be the best description Loch Lomond’s “The Open” offers the recipient (all in a good way). After returning from Scotland with 4 bottles of more obscure scotch not found in the US, I found it necessary to purchase a decent bottle at home so that I would consume my finds from Scotland so immediately. The Open provided me that need and I was not disappointed. Though the price was listed at almost $40, I was able to secure it discounted at $31.95. At this price, this qualifies as an excellent surprise not only in its price but its undisappointing taste.
Hi I am not a connoisseur just an ordinary Jock who loves a dram or two on special occasions and I loved the bottle I bought and will buy again the Open Special Edition. I love it every dram!!
