Loch Lomond
Scotland
Single Malt
12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from Loch Lomond, who are well known for being able to produce a wide variety of styles of whisky in their Highland distillery. This particular expression was made using the distillery's unique straight-neck stills and more traditional swan-neck stills, and aged in a selection of bourbon, refill and recharged American oak casks.
Creamy vanilla, with a touch of freshly baked apple turnover.
Brown sugar and five-spice. Orchard fruit notes continue, with a hint of yellow plum too.
Quite drying with subtle woody smoke, though still sweet with vanilla.
The following review is a joke "This scotch doesn’t deserve to be called whisky is barely whiskey" what a peasant stick to JD or Proper Twelve you melt, this LL 12 Whiskey is underpriced and under the radar and is currently hogging the limelight with my go to dram Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve. ?
First time trying it. Im usually a Mc Allen guy or Hibiki Japanese whiskey however, the taste is good mild on the smoke, love the sweetness of it. A good pair with a Maduro Cigar. Easy on the price is a plus.
LOCH LOMOND 12 The Look: caramel, amber apple cider The Nose: Vanilla, caramel, light smoke, honey The Taste: honey, caramel chocolate, briney, earthy, honeysuckle, floral, a bit of a bite The Finish: bright, shiny, a bit of a bite, lasts for quite a while 20-30 seconds. Reminds me of Old Pulteney 12 but less malty and a bit like Bruichladdich Classic Laddie with less cocoa powder chalkiness. The Bottle: tall, sleek, beautiful, and bold. Excellent logo and branding. Text is perfect, however i wish the stags head logo was embossed rather than a nearly flat sticker. THE VERDICT: 88 PTS at 46% this is a steal much better than Glenlivet for an entry to scotch is a bit of smoke a bit of honey. Extremely impressive when compared side by side with OP12 and the Classic Laddie i am blown away with how well it stands up. I am thoroughly impressed by this super affordable (39.99 at Bevmo in California) malt. And the slight smoke on the palate is a great surprise. Side note Loch Lomond the actual lake is beautiful and a great sight-seeing trip. Also a great traditional Scottish Song!
Good Scotch but not my cup of tea. From the bottle description I thought it would be more smokey. But I'm partial to peat, if you don't like alotta smoke then try it!
Exquisite aroma. Sweet caramel and fruity notes. Let it breathe for a bit and allow the air to open the flavour. The sweet caramel followed by a nice burn to remind you this is a sophisticated dram with a decent level of alcohol content.
