Blended
High Commissioner is a blend of various malt and grain whiskies. It's actually not that bad, with a pretty decent balance of flavour.
£6.00 - £54.99
This is a good, solid blend. More than decent at the price. Buy without fear and enjoy a dram.
During lockdown this was the only whisky I could get in the weekly online shop, I was not expecting much but it was either this or nothing.I am not usually a blended whisky drinker but this is excellent.
I came here just the reviews, but I thought I put one up myself, As a whiskey, I love it, I'd definitely prefer a top end whiskey, like Laphroig, Auchentoshen, or Powers and Bushmills, but High Commissioner is incredibly pleasant tasting for the price, £8.29 for a 35cl bottle where I live, so if ever you need your whisky kick, I'd endorse this whisky
Excellent warm tones with a real impact on the pallet. Far more depth than any blends I have tried recently, including Margot from Lidl which is my fall back blend. At under £15 a bottle from my local convenience store in North Devon, it was one of the nicer surprise in moving here. Try it with a splash of water as many Scots drink whisky, you won't be sorry.
With the minimum unit pricing in Wales you can't buy whisky for less than £14.00 for a (70cl) bottle so this is entry level. There are a lot of horrible whiskies around at £14.00 I used to be a bit of a single malt snob but I've come to appreciate that a good blend can be better than a mediocre or poor single malt. I stumbled across this in my local newsagents. For the price this is smooth and very drinkable, nothing to dislike here, a farmhouse fruitcake in a bottle. Is this the best cheapest whisky around?
