A collaboration between Living Souls and the ever-inventive Thompson Bros has produced a whisky wrapped in intrigue and playful secrecy. The label hides its true identity until the bottle is drained, but for those who must know, there's a hint below. PARTIAL SPOILER ALERT: It’s a vatting of a Speyside curiosity (50% TB/BSW, a distillery’s famous blending mishap) and a heavily peated 18-year-old from the west coast (50% 99&1).
Pear drops, barley sugar, and lemon zest, then wafts of coastal smoke and damp earth. Hints of waxy apple skin, pepper, and warm cereal round things out.
Bright and zippy, bringing sweet malt, toffee, and honeycomb, quickly giving way to an assertive wave of maritime peat smoke. Notes of charred oak, roasted nuts, and salted caramel linger with a touch of stone fruit.
