The Benchmark series from indie bottler Murray McDavid features all kinds of splendid Scotch whiskies and this single malt from Linkwood makes the perfect addition. Distilled in 2012, the whisky was finished in a trio of Port, oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez casks before it was bottled up at nine years old in 2023. A release of 1,032 bottles.
Gooey flapjack, loaded with dried berries and raisins, a touch of dried apple, and candied ginger.
Dustings of cocoa join buttery shortbread and creamy malt, with candied fruit and jammy currants bolstered by dense baking spice.
Honeyed sweetness lingers while juicy oak and marmalade counter wintery spice.
