Distilled in November 2009 and bottled in January 2022, it's a splendid single malt from Linkwood! That dozen years was spent resting in a virgin oak hogshead, before finishing off in a first-fill syrah (shiraz) red wine barrel. Independently released by DS Tayman with an outturn of 367 bottles.
Heaps of baked orchard fruits and red berries, warm malt, and baking spice.
Those berries and red fruits carry through, joined by hearty oak and candied nuts.
Set honey and maple syrup bring sweetness, with peppery oak offering some warming spice.
A light, smooth, sweet, nectar of a whisky, adding to the palate a number of elegant fragrances which unfold as you drink: A smooth delight. Beautifully presented and packaged.
Lovely colour from the wine cask. However, it is a thin whisky, not much body. I did not find it enjoyable. There are many better whiskies at this price point.
