Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

An amazing Islay malt with silky sweet peat, brine, honey and chocolate notes that coat the tongue with a spice and citrus finish. More abv…yes please!!!!
Definitely get the fuller flavour from the smaller cask used in maturation. Punchy on the palate with an expected explosion of peat. Very medicinal on the finish.
I'm often in the mood for sweet n smokey, and this delivers. The extra abv is nice, takes it past the standard 10, for me. Nom nom.
Just amazing stuff. I'm more to ardbeg but this is one of the best Islay drams there is at the moment! Everything is balanced, my new favorite peated.
Deep bonfire smoke, rum and raisin ice cream with hickory smoked meatiness.
