Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon is an utter classic small batch whiskey from Jim Beam, first created by Booker Noe and introduced in 1992. It was named after the creek which flows near where Abraham Lincoln grew up.
Quite spicy and sweet. Melted salty butter on granary toast, toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness.
Peppy and full. Notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak.
Long with a touch of dryness, nut oils and vanilla spice.

Knob Creek is a treat. There. I've said it. I found this nugget on the shelf of our local store, and bought it on a whim due to its rather ambiguous name. I thought it would be a one-note bourbon like other whimsically named whiskies, but man, oh man was I ever mistaken. Knob Creek bourbon is a great sipping whisky. Add a small splash of water or feel adventurous and add a couple of dashes of bitters for some zing. I must admit that their rye version is perhaps half a point better, but it is a close tie.
