Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon is an utter classic small batch whiskey from Jim Beam, first created by Booker Noe and introduced in 1992. It was named after the creek which flows near where Abraham Lincoln grew up.
Quite spicy and sweet. Melted salty butter on granary toast, toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness.
Peppy and full. Notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak.
Long with a touch of dryness, nut oils and vanilla spice.

This is review of NAS, I never tasted the legendary 9yo. This is an oak essence. Spicy, very spicy. But in a good way. The nose is quite heavy-sweet, then on a palate you get this oily, corn bourbon concentrate. And then the slap in the face with oaky spiciness. Not unpleasant to me but quite pronounced so you've been warned. Long finish and you want more straight away. It's a quality bourbon but it will only cater for fans of spicy whiskeys. "So gimme fuel gimme fire gimme that which I desire"
4-1/2 stars. Some of these reviews may well be from bitter competition. lol
A step up from Beam and Jack Daniels, and down from Woodford, Trace, etc. What I DO like about it is the 100 proof; this is an excellent bourbon when you want to get a serious buzz on. The taste is slightly bitter and kinda harsh, but not necessarily in a bad way. There are much smoother bourbons out there if that's what you want, and Woodford, at a similar price point, would be a good example. I do sometimes buy Knob even though Woodford sits right next to it at my local store, because sometimes you just want a strong, harsh bourbon. As a sipping, after dinner type bourbon it would not be my first choice. I don't think Knob has the complex flavors one expects in a decent bourbon - it's basically for getting a buzz, or getting drunk, without enduring the horrible taste of Beam or JD
These reviews may all be for the current bottling which is sans the 9 year age statement. I just learned that the 9 went away 2 years ago or so. Startled and upset to know this. I have always loved this whiskey. If this NAS is anywhere near as good as the old school age statement general release, well then, let me tell you how to try this. Pour a small dram, nip at if if you like, but mostly let it open glass decant for a couple hours. The gentlemen start your engines fire will calm down and so much beaituful sweetness will shine through.
It has flavor well known to a low end bourbon. Not anything to get excited about
