Kentucky Bourbon Distillers Co
Noah's Mill Whiskey Distillery
The much adored Noah's Mill bourbon here, made with a mash bill of 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% barley. This expression is bottled at a very generous 57.2% ABV - a drop of water does help bring some of the rich fruity notes to the fore, while it's earthy, resinous depth ought to shine in an Old Fashioned.
Heavy treacle and vanilla, dusted with plenty of cinnamon. Notes of forest floor and earthy oak nestle beneath.
Ginger, black pepper, honey-drizzled sponge cake and cooked pear, with resinous oak and subtle hints of dried herbs.
Honey-roasted nuts, sharp green apple, another kick of pepper, and a touch of damp earth.
Wow - I’ve had a fair few bourbons, including the basic Blantons, but this is something else entirely. For the abv I expected it to be super thin & alcohol tasting, but it’s thick & the caramel was evident immediately on the nose. Would 100% recommend this - for special occasions. Superb stuff & straight into my #1 spot. Instead of buying 2 reasonable bottles get just 1 of these for the same price! You won’t regret it.
A fantastic bourbon. Even better after the bottle's been open for a day or two. Highly recommended
Spectacular. My special-occasion whiskey. Big looping swirls of almost bubblegummy sweetness, with rich vanilla-inflected spice. Stunning. 57.15%...anyone else notice that? The original British "proof" measurement (mix it with gunpowder and see if it burns) happened to result in an ABV of 57.15%: that was proof spirit or "100° proof". That's not how it was defined (it was based on gravity, not ABV), but that's what it worked out at if measured as a percentage. Can't be a coincidence?
My go to for special occasions. A bit pricey but worth every penny/sip. Should probably be more expensive, thank goodness it’s not.
Omg what a fabulous smooth caramelly hit of delight
