The much adored Noah's Mill bourbon here, made with a mash bill of 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% barley. This expression is bottled at a very generous 57.2% ABV - a drop of water does help bring some of the rich fruity notes to the fore, while it's earthy, resinous depth ought to shine in an Old Fashioned.
Heavy treacle and vanilla, dusted with plenty of cinnamon. Notes of forest floor and earthy oak nestle beneath.
Ginger, black pepper, honey-drizzled sponge cake and cooked pear, with resinous oak and subtle hints of dried herbs.
Honey-roasted nuts, sharp green apple, another kick of pepper, and a touch of damp earth.
Did not enjoy it all. Wild turkey rarebreed far superior to this and a good bit cheaper
I've had to come back and write a review again for this incredibly insane bourbon! The sheer power of the flavour delivered by this is beautiful. I'm not even going to give it tasting notes either, having only very recently tried it I'm in love with it and have bought 4 bottles. Pappy Van Winkle 15yo hasn't got even half the flavour delivery of Noah's Mill.... No joke. It's like if you made a Birthday Cake with W.T Rare breed and then served that cake on top of Angelina Jolies naked body.
I'm trying to date my bottle of Noah's Mill. Given a few life landmarks, it's definitely between January 2008 and March 2011. It was incredible then, and it's incredible now. It still has the big, looping punches of brown sugary caramel, so intense they're almost like...bubblegum. But not just "bubblegum": it's a taffy-like, toffee-like sweetness, redolent of amber, compressed into an intensity that billows and sparkles around with floral delicacy. A special occasion whiskey par-excellence.
Totally gorgeous, Butter frosting, apples, toffee, hay, fresh cut grass, orange peel. Maybe the best bourbon I've ever tried if I'm honest.
Great Bourbon. One of the best I've tried.
