You know how good the multi-award winning Kavalan Solist Sherry matured releases are? Well the whisky that goes into this permanent addition to the range is the same, brought down to a bottling strength of 46% using Kavalan spring water!
Familiar rich dark fruit, marzipan and spice notes.
Mixed dark spices, vanilla and plum.
Dried fruit and cocoa.

“I tried my first Kavalan sherry oak last night, and omg all these reviews are spot on, it's totally balanced and gives us sherry monster lovers the taste & hit we want. At one time glendronach revival was my fav, but since the re-launch of 15 along with other factors well documented elsewhere, they lost me as a customer, but my first taste of Kavalan was reminiscent of what i thought the first time i tried GD 15 a decade ago, i just instantly loved it. I normally leave it a few weeks to get a better grip on a new whisky (to me) before posting a review, but feel there's no need here 5/5.”

Sherry Oak is definitely my favourite Kavalan so far, and rates high generally! Inviting dark honey colour. Lovely and fruity(dark), with a hum of the oak and it's vanilla tones in support. There's also that sweet baking aroma, similar to scones baking (probably a specific aroma, but I can't put my finger on it). Beautifully oily on the palate and a wonderful warming, dark fruit-filled finish. Is it worth the £85 price tag? Yes, I reckon it is, it's definitely 'special occasion whiskey' (or a sneaky one to yourself in front of the fire on a winter night!). Bravo Kavalan, BRAVO!
Just tried a dram of this. Great on the nose. Big sherry hit on the palate and a super long finish. If you’re into sherried whiskies give this a shot. You won’t be disappointed. I was impressed
The Kavalan Sherry oak is a very rich and exotic whisky. It is bottled at 46% abv, non chill filtered and non colored and has flavors and aromas of marzipan espresso and cherries. The color is beautiful dark from the fresh and active sherry casks. This is a watered down blend of Solist casks and it is more easy going as an every day sipper then the Solist sherry cask. It's also a great introduction to the bold Kavalan character, much more full flavored and luxurious than the standard Kavalan Single Malt.
I have been disappointed by several of the Kalavan whiskies I have tried samples of. I was very pleasantly surprised by the sherry oak, which had a very good aroma and taste and a long finish. Great sherry flavor. This is one of the few whiskies that I have tried that I would repurchase.
My son sent me a bottle and I like it as well as my McCallan!
