Kamiki is a unique blended malt whisky made using Japanese malts whiskies combined with specially selected malt whiskies from around the world. After blending, the whisky is finished in casks made from yoshino-sugi (often referred to as "Japanese cedar"). It's a particularly aromatic type of wood, and Kamiki is said to be the first whisky ever to enjoy a yoshino-sugi cask finish!
Fragrant citrus blossom and baked apple, with a hint of balsa wood and dry peat.
Floral notes remain at the fore, with touches of forest floor, apricot and kumquat developing in the background.
Slightly peppery, earthy vanilla pod and a whiff of pine.
£9.43 - £63.47
First time I had a cask finish whisky apart from Oak. Very smart
In addition to the woody flavors, I get strong fruit and chocolate notes. Very strong flavors, which I like. Thin mouth feel and slight acidic burn at the end, with delicious aftertastes. There's a lot to like here.
It is good. True, the experience is based on cedar wood, but neatly wrapped in surrounding notes of fruit and vanilla. It is my third best japanese whisky so far, after the yamazaki 12 and hibiki master select.
Would you ever pay someone else 100 bucks for you to drink a bottle of perfume? No? Then don't buy this junk. I am a whisky enthusiasts. I love all styles and many creative expressions. I was very optimistic about this expression despite the baf reviews and press. I also appreciate the attempt to do something different here with the wood variety... But to charge so much for something so obviously not good? I can't appreciate that. Do yourself a favor and forget about this whisky.
I went to the store to grab another Japanese brand but they ran out. So I decided to pick this over whisper pig. Kamiki resemble bourbon to me. I wasn't disappointed with the purchase. The flavor is good, smooth and pleasurable to the nose. It's one of those whiskey that you'll be glad to had savored but not a go to drink after work with a nice cigar. Being a whiskey lover it's best to sometimes venture new territory, but for the price paid I had better in the same price range.
