    Single Malt

    Jura Superstition

A single malt made up of different ages, 13 percent of which is said to be heavily peated... It turns out Stevie was wrong, Superstition is the way!

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Initial gristy cereal gives way to evocative smoke and heady malt. It’s quite sweet and creamy, and reminds us of Chantilly cream.

    Palate

Sweet and porridge-like. A cereal fest on the tongue, with hints of white pepper and black forest honey with hot buttered toast. Light and oily.

    Finish

Medium length with cocoa and rice paper with hints of honey and spice on the tail.

    Comfortable and warming.

Love it. Comforting, enough peat and body to warm without burning. This was one for the narrowboat, to rock me to peace with as the night cooled down...

    Spice and Liquorice

Trying this again after a while. Immediate spice and chilli. As spicy as a Glenmorangie La Santa. Slightly medicinal as befits a neighbour of Islay rather than an Islay. Mellowing after 15m. Some liquorice. A winters dram. Classically Islands.

    Pleasant but not much personality...

Took a long time to like this. Better with some oxidation. So little peat in not sure it's worth mentioning. Accurate tasting notes from Master of Malt. Very cereal heavy with honey, pleasant but not interesting. Wouldn't purchase again and not upset it's been discontinued. Hopefully the new range is more interesting.

Never fails to please - very drinkable

This is one of my partner's familiar favourites which never fails to please - very drinkable.

    Impressed, finally!

While none of the core range Jura whiskies wowed me when I tasted them all at the distillery, I am convinced that sometimes a dram is just not enough to get to appreciate a whisky. So I bought a liter of this! On the nose was maltiness, strong cereal, spice and dried fruit. On the palate-Leathery, smoke. The smokiness of the peat emerges after a few seconds and is delicious. After a few drops of water, the palate is creamier, with a woodier finish. Medium-long, spicy finish.
