Little gem

I have over 100 whisky’s and have been a taster for 12 years. This might be the best whisky you can buy for the price: I have £1000 bottles that aren’t as good. I think the other reviews are from drinkers of a different type of whisky. The instant hit of vanilla is all I need and more follows.

I’d rather suck lemons

One of the worst whiskies I ever had. Devoid of anything. It’s a whisky for people who either don’t like whisky or prove why they don’t like whisky. If you like Glenlivet Founders Reserve then you’ll like this. Fresh air.

I suppose everyone’s palette is different but I found this incredibly salty, harsh and bitter…just like one of my exes. I had this in the Emirates Lounge in Dubai. So glad I didn’t have to pay for this as I left my double measure on the table to be cleaned up.

A bland 90s TV remake of a classic film

Lovely tactile bottle shape, perfect for clutching to your bosom as you settle down snugly to watch an old film. But then, as you begin to sip at the unprepossessingly aroma'd, you realise that instead of being treated to the vintage elegance of Kind Hearts & Coronets or the unexpected intellectual eroticism of Eyes Wide Shut, you're stuck with a bland TV remake of The Thirty Nine Steps. "It is whisky" is about as praiseworthy as I can be about the Jura Journey. I detected no smokiness and virtually no fruitiness. It falls between two stools and is overshadowed by both. Nevertheless, it has its place. I shall keep the bottle for undiscerning, whisky-ignorant guests, or for making a hot toddy, where added honey might actually provide some flavour.
