Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.
Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.
Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.
Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.

It didn't take long to narrow down that this is what was giving me a headache and ironically I noticed that someone else on here has this problem. I'm not sure if it's the colouring or something else, but whatever it is my head start to ache within minutes of drinking it so I'll need to chuck the bottle. Furthermore, the nose was bothering me as it was familiar, yet I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it clicked; it's exactly the same smell as emulsion paint. Very off putting indeed. At this price point something like Highland Park 12 is far better.
Excellent dram. Great price too. Lovely peaty taste. toffee after taste . Perfect with my Red Leicester cheese & sliced smoked ham snack. I notice many comments refer to Jura as a “whiskey”, it is a Whisky! ?
Quite harsh but still better than haig club
Lovely tasting whiskey, with fruit+ smoke flavor,at a very good price for an entry level whiskey.Far too much whiskey snobbery about the joy is in the drinking and if you like something you like it.
