Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.
Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.
Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.
Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.
very smooth with beautiful flavours. superb hint of peat which is no way overpowering. excellent value
Perfectly acceptable malt. Too many pretentious primadonnas who honestly believe they are Gods gift to whisky tasting out there. One bloke reviewing this very acceptable whisky .....couldn't even spell whisky.... ( it has an 'h' in it mate!) When will these idiots realise taste is subjective. One man's bliss is another man's poison. Sort yourselves out....Jura is an honest whisky for the price...
Reading these reviews anyone would think it's a review for Marmite.. Either love it or hate it . I am in the love it camp. Smooth ,honeyed and good entry level Malt at a great price . What are you expecting for around £22...the holy grail?
Can't understand some of the reviews on here especially the lecture length one from 'Mault Man'! What do people expect for a £20-25 bottle of malt whisky?? It's perfectly pleasant without much sophistication. Clearly some don't have the nose or palate for Scotch malt whisky. If you want a bottle of malt in the cupboard for ordinary days then it's perfectly fine. Headaches? I'm getting mine from reading some of the reviews!!?
A lovely whisky, better than most of the standard 12 yrs old malts I have tried ,
