A stunning release from Jura, Tide is a 21 year old single malt with a dual maturation, released as part of the Aged Vintage series. Firstly, the whisky rested in American white oak bourbon barrels before it was transferred to hand-selected virgin American white oak casks, which imparted a slightly more spicy character. It was finally bottled at 46.7% ABV in a frosted glass bottle, along with a pretty funky presentation box.
Gingerbread, buttery caramel digestive biscuits and tropical fruit, namely banana.
Melted white chocolate, toasted walnut, sugared almonds, gingersnap biscuits, marzipan.
A spicy finish with allspice, pepper and a touch of honey.
$35.53 - $110.88
Very nice indeed. Full of flavour and although it nips the tip of the tongue at 46.7% it really does slide down smoothly. Doesn't need water. Having bought a 3cl sample, I am very tempted to purchase a bottle.
The Jura 21 Tide is a very nice whisky. Best I’ve had for some time. I was privileged to come to Jura via a gift of a bottle of Visions of Jura from a privately commissioned distillation of 265 bottles laid down for 20years and bottled at 55.8%. To be honest nothing has ever come close to that fine dram which lasted me many years of careful drinking. I have had a significant amount of single malts over the years and many Juras, which remain my favourite My wife often treats me to a different Bottle. I was treated to a Jura 18yr old by my wife last Christmas and it was lovely, one of the best Juras I had enjoyed for some time. This year I was again treated via Master if Malt by my beloved, this time to the 21 yr old Tide. For me personally this is the best I have imbibed since the Visions of Jura I was gifted. It is heavier than that, rich spicy and warming. I’m not sophisticated enough to be able to distinguish all the tasting notes as above but it is strong flavoursome and a very rewarding indulgence. I would recommend this whisky wholeheartedly
Very nice but was expecting something out of this world for the price.
Very nice but I wouldn't pay this price for any whiskey.
Fantastic vintage single malt. Beautiful slightly sweet finish with spice undertones. Light on the palate, yet robust on the nose.
