Johnnie Walker Platinum used to sit between Gold and Blue in the extensive range of blends, carrying an impressive 18-year-old age statement.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Sweet rich and deep notes with maraschino cherries, toffee caramel, vanilla, baked rhubarb crumble and a very thin whiff of smoke.
The richness continues onto the palate, which is sweet and warming, with creamy malt, oats and cereal. A spicy vanilla cinnamon dusting too with the gentle smoke again developing.
Dark chocolate with caramalised peel.
Another pleasing blend from Johnnie Walker, this is quite different from the gold label.
Nose: Menthol Toffee Palate: Its thin. There is sour apple and not much else. After: There's sweetness. It a messy phenolic toffee. Meh.
The best they ever made
Initially below the expectation. Let's see how it tastes after a month... The bottle I've purchased in a reputable online store tastes largely as Cardhu 12 years. Not exactly the same, as the peat is still in it + a few more subtle notes. The nose has some ethanol in it. The taste is ok. I paid 50 Euros (I'm in Holland), which I initially thought was a good deal, but I'm not so sure after opening the bottle. My exemplar is definitely a decent Scotch, but nothing spectacular. I've seen better whiskys for same or less money.
One of the smoothest scratches I’ve ever drank! Before I knew it 3/4 of the bottle was gone! Very rich character
I like it very much. Sweet, little smokey and smooth but not weak. Well rounded decent whisky. Add few drops of water and wait few minutes before consume - Enjoy...
