    Paul John Edited

'Edited' is an Indian single malt whisky created by Master Distiller Michael John using Indian 6-row barley as well as peated Scottish barley. The final vatting contains 15% of the peated spirit with maturation taking place in bourbon casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Toasted cereal, big barley and honey notes, Hob Nobs! Slightly vegetal peatiness, lemon and seaweed. Some beach bonfire but the peat isn't overpowering. Malty.

    Palate

Wood spices, a bowl of porridge with honey and then demerara whilst sat beside a fireplace.

    Finish

A touch of mocha, oak and perhaps old fashioned liquorice.

    Overall

Peated Indian single malt whisky from John Distilleries that shows very well at what we would usually consider a young age.

    nice & mellow

    Delicate, fragrant with peaty notes

This is a whisky that seems to say and do an aweful lot, plenty of sweet barley and caramac sweet notes but with some burnt pine aromas up front. I don't know whether it's knowing it's Indian that makes this happen or whether it's the whisky but there's some aromatic almond and coriander in there - sort of like an aromatic Pasanda just underneath the whisky.

    nice peated one

dont see why the previous review says it s shit unless peated whisky is not the taste they are looking for.... master of malt shouldnt allow that sort of immature review. nice shit to sip ;-)

    Interesting

Nose: Soft peat smoke akin to a slightly damp Autumn leaf fire, Malt, Some acacia honey and a little cocoa. Palate: Warm milk poured over muesli, honey, soft medicinal notes, some skin off a homemade rice pudding, ginger and peat smoke. Finish: A long lingering peat smoke finish including a little espresso.

    Indian spices

There is lemon and clove on the nose with a pretty strong element of ammonia. Slight peat and smoke with some cardamon and honey leads to a muscavado finish. The final notes are black pepper and chilli. It is a very spicy whisky that might hold up well after a strongly flavoured meal, but I find it a little overpowering on its own.
