Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Quite sweet with gentle notes of vanilla and cut hay, a touch of fresh corn fields and a little cereal sweetness, like the bluegrass fields of Kentucky.

Palate

Good body with notes of toasty oak and all the requisite notes of vanilla and crème anglaise, a little spice and pepper with an acetone note.

Finish

Toasty oak and resin with a some sweetness.

The baseline of Bourbon.

This is the baseline of what a Bourbon should be and prices accordingly. Sweet, slight charcoal oaky notes. Won't blow you away with complex flavours but nothing off putting either. Great as a mixer but also very sippable neat if on a budget.

just a good Bourbon

I've yet to meet a bourbon that I don't like. This one is a basic bourbon. I like it. For the money it's excellent!

Fair price, but not for me.

I was gifted two bottles of this, when I first tried bourbon, and whilst bearable, IMHO I didn't find it that enjoyable, tasting thin and not too much else. Saying that, I picked out the peanut flavour which I'd heard about. I can't see how this would take water or ice (not that I ever do!) I suppose this is 'ok' for the price but with the likes of BT or W/T for a tad more, this one is not for me.

Good

As a scotch drinker I find this better for the money than bottom shelf scotch blends that sell for around the same price (Bells, Grouse, Grants, W&M ect...) Reason being bourbon is aged in first fill casks, not re-re-re used casks like those blended scotch mentioned. For £14-£16 this is a decent spirit.
