The first release in the Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Series honoured the man himself, Mr. Jack Daniel. Subsequent releases pay tribute to the Master Distillers who followed in his footsteps at the helm of the classic Tennessee whiskey.

I think this is the best of the whole series. Given a close run by series 5 though. So smooth. It has single barrel quality, had a few bottles, hint of caramel and spice. Harder to find now, hence drinking series 5. Wonderful value. Future classic this one
Its the best of all smooth on the palette nice an warm to take, fruity a joy to take, I fully enjoyed every glass.
I ve had 5-10 bottles of this, and it is great bang for buck. This is way better then White rabbit, regular Jack and gentle Jack. It can compete with not the best single barrels, but not as good as the great ones. The nose is not as intense as the Single barrel nose, but the taste is very rewarding. You can wash your mouth for a minute. The taste is just glorious. Slightly spicy (but not too much!), but drinking this one it feels kind of boring. Let me explaine. Its so good, like you know guys...when you drink Chivas 12, Chivas 18, JWB 12, all 10/10 tens, but they are really boring in a way. So good, so smooth, and nothing really happens...That is why I lately prefer picking up a Single barrel, even a bad one is stil deserving, with chalenging glorious nose, sour burning taste, and long burning aftertaste. The color of MD1 is very, very dark. Darker than most bourbons, and only slightly lighter than Single Barrel, but SB gets its color more from the reddish dark notes, while MD1 is more black sort of darkish color. Also there is 43% abv, which is noticable, compared to almost 10% of extra watered down regular Jack. If you can still found any of the old bottles hidden somewhere in your local supermarket, you really can not go wrong picking it up, if you are a Jack drinker. Your gonna love it. I would dare to make a bold statement, and say that you can pour this one to a lady present too. It is really much smoother then the regular Jack, despite the higher ABV.
