Islay Mist
Blended
The Islay Mist blend was first launched in the 1920s. Known for its good peating level which comes from malts like Laphroaig.
Sweet, soft fudge, and all the inherent creaminess, slightly herbal.
Soft, creamy. Barley.
Spirity, oak.
Been drinking scotch malt whiskies for thirty years now and never really liked blends. I saw a bottle of Islay Mist Deluxe on a huge discount, 17 Euro's for a litre and thought ok why not try this one as I read some favourable reviews about this dram. Well I must say that this is your more than decent alternative to drink when the budget is too tight for the real deal. Smooth and soothing with a hint of peat. Lacks some depth but hey for this price you can't go wrong.
Gatewaydrink to alcoholism. so good, so cheap
I'm not going to over-analyze this whiskey, there is really no need. For the price It's excellent.
I thought, "How could I like a $20 of blended Scotch so damn much?" It's my go to when I can't put $80 out for a bottle of Lagavulin (my favorite) or a $40 bottle of Laphroaig and still get my peaty fix. Light on the nose, the peat, and the runners, this is still a good Islay that surprises me each time I get a bottle. After reading the other reviews, I don't feel so insane for liking this so much.
Since I tasted it it's my favorite Whisky in my collection.
