This single grain Scotch whisky from Invergordon joins indie bottler Murray McDavid's Select Grain collection. Distilled in 2009, the whisky matured for 15 years, beginning in bourbon hogsheads and finishing for three years in casks that previously held a heavily peated Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bringing elegant notes of grassy smoke to the vibrant vanilla, oily oak, baked apples, and candied nuts at its core.

The Islay finish is quite evident in the Murray McDavid bottling, as the initial nose is very smoky. Not a bad sipping scotch, but the back-end finish is a bit thin.
