Part of Hunter Laing's impressive Journey series, this is the Islay edition. Getting to Islay isn't the easiest trip, so now you can transport yourself there slightly easier with a sip of this smoky whisky, which has been matured in bourbon hogsheads. This one certainly packs a maritime punch.
Hefty aromas of peat smoke, a flinty minerality, sea breeze, and bonfire ash, with a burst of red berry and vanilla sweetness.
Hallmark notes of earthy peat, sea spray, and mineral-heavy seaweed, with icing sugar and creamier notes of vanilla and milk chocolate.
Medium length, with a sprinkle of sea salt and a dash of fresh citrus.
Generally I agree with the tasting notes as done by MoM butta one should add that this is a very young malt, IMHO 3-4 yo, adding the very burn sensation on the tongue. I think the Scarabus of the same bottlwr is much more sublime. Still many kudos for the peat in the nose and taste.
