An Irish whiskey blend of both grain and single malt, Hinch Small Batch Bourbon Cask has (of course) been matured in bourbon oak casks. Hinch is located just outside Ballynahinch, so you can see where they got the name from. Expect lots of those classic creamy bourbon notes.
Orange marmalade, dried apricot, creamy malt and earthy vanilla pod with buttered toast.
Creamy vanilla, pancakes and maple syrup, floral honey, dried fruit, fresh canteloupe and lively citrus.
Chocolate covered almond, vanilla shortbread and more honey.
£4.56 - £30.50
Being a young whiskey my hopes weren't particularly high for this however I was pleasantly surprised. This review is based on the taste shortly after opening the bottle. The flavour after swallowing lasts for a good length of time especially compared to cheaper alternatives. The smell is honey like alcoholic vapour and the flavours I get from this are spice and quite a strong taste of clove with a sweet and bitter after taste. Good for the price as it is better than you're average whisky in this price range plus I do like the style of the bottle it's in. Probably would taste well if drinking with a mixer but I always drink neat so I wouldn't know for sure.
Best old fashioned I have had
Really nice. Bit different with regards to the colour. It was very smooth to drink, Drank it straight and then on the rocks. I got a bit of like a honey or lemon taste, Very subtle. But certainly enjoyed it. I am use to Aberlour or Redbreast but i really enjoyed this one. Thumps up.
without /before ice. nose was tia maria for me - coffee & vanilla taste - again vanilla & orange. very nice indeed & tastes like it should be much darker than the light straw colour it is. perfect with an ice cube. highly recommend.
Kind of light on nose, perhaps a bit of orange. Kind of light on flavour, some ginger with some citrus fruit Overall perhaps a good mixer but on its own, uninspiring
