Harmony - a rather apt word to describe this well-balanced Japanese blended whisky from the Hibiki range. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is made with malt whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, as well as grain whisky from the Chita distillery. The whiskies are drawn from five different types of cask, including American white oak casks, sherry casks and Mizunara oak casks. An elegant expression, with wafts of honey, orange, a herbaceous touch or two, and light oak.
Red berries, green apple and layers of rich honey.
Melted butter and caramelised dates. A hint of fragrant sandalwood develops into warming, oaky spice.
Brown sugar, citrus peels, white grape, and black pepper.
This whiskey has a rich warm feeling when drinking it. It's a full lovely flavour. It's not too strong in the pallette.
Pale, no real aroma. Drank neat. A light/weak flavour. A bit thin on taste.
A bit woody with citrus and deep flavour. Not as smooth as Scotch but also not unpleasant, very tasty.
As someone fairly new to whisky drinking, this was a great starter. Drank with a touch of water and also tried with ice, smooth and perfect for a relaxing drink at Christmas! Would definitely recommend!
I’m no expert on Japanese whisky but this was pleasant. I had it straight up and later with ice. A bit woody, Citrusy and deep. Felt a little harsh going down not as smooth as Scotch but also not unpleasant.
