A world renowned Japanese blend, Hibiki 17 Year Old is made with aged malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's distilleries. Initially released in 1989, the blend is matured in Japanese mizunara oak casks at Yamazaki. Hibiki means harmony, which has certainly been achieved in this wonderful and iconic blend.

Quite full. There are notes of honey and wax, resin and oak. There are notes of gentle smoke and cacao, hints of cooked fruit and a nutty note.
Sweet and rich. There are crisp notes of mixed peels, raisin and custard with a little zest and plenty of oak.
Long with notes of oak and cocoa and sherried peels.
The best whisky I have had on the rocks, no problems in giving Hibiki 17 a 10 out of 10. Bob Adwani, Jakarta.
Best whisky i've ever had! Really complex and quite different from the scotches i've tasted before. Maybe it's just me, but the aroma reminded me of pears.

Whenever i sit down to take a few sips of this wonderful uisuki it makes me believe in justice and hold a determination to fist.
I thought the 12 was good but this is something else. Smooth long finish with custard cream and rhubarb on the nose, hints of cherry and plums in there as well. This is an adult version of your favourite childhood cordial. However I'm not sure it's worth that much more than the 12. Certainly smoother but I think I'd prefer two 70cl of the 12 rather than one of these.
